JOB OVERVIEW
The Healthcare Assistant will provide essential support to nurses and other healthcare professionals in delivering safe, appropriate and personalised care to patients.
The role involves assisting with basic patient-care activities, observing patients’ general condition, supporting nursing procedures, assisting during patient admission and orientation, handling specimens according to instructions, and helping maintain a clean, safe and comfortable healthcare environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with nurses and other members of the healthcare team and must be able to follow established procedures, workplace standards and instructions carefully.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Patient Care
– Assist patients with basic daily care according to their individual needs.
– Provide appropriate assistance as directed by the nursing team.
– Treat patients with care, respect and dignity at all times.
– Support patients with daily activities where required.
– Carry out assigned patient-care duties according to established procedures.
2. Patient Observation
– Assist nurses in observing and monitoring patients’ general condition.
– Pay attention to changes in patients’ needs or condition.
– Report relevant changes or concerns promptly to the nursing team.
– Communicate patient-related observations clearly and accurately.
3. Nursing Support
– Assist nurses with assigned nursing-related duties and procedures.
– Follow instructions from nurses and senior nursing staff.
– Provide support during daily patient-care activities.
– Ensure assigned responsibilities are completed according to workplace requirements.
– Cooperate with other healthcare personnel to support smooth operations.
4. Specimen Collection and Testing
– Assist with the collection and handling of patient specimens when instructed.
– Follow established procedures for specimen handling and testing.
– Ensure specimens are managed carefully and appropriately.
– Follow all instructions provided by the nursing or healthcare team.
5. Patient Admission and Orientation
– Assist with the admission and orientation of conscious patients who are in stable condition.
– Provide basic guidance and assistance during the admission process.
– Help patients understand the healthcare environment and relevant arrangements.
– Provide appropriate support while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
6. Maintaining a Clean and Safe Environment
– Assist in maintaining a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients.
– Keep assigned areas clean and orderly.
– Follow workplace safety procedures and healthcare standards.
– Support the nursing team in maintaining an appropriate environment for patient care.
7. General Duties
– Perform other duties assigned by the Nurse Manager or Senior Nurse Manager.
– Provide support to the healthcare team whenever required.
– Work cooperatively with nurses, healthcare staff and other colleagues.
– Contribute to efficient and smooth daily healthcare operations.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
– Completed a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) course.
– Able to work three rotating shifts.
– Willing to work according to the operational requirements of the healthcare facility.
– Responsible, reliable and attentive when performing assigned duties.
– Comfortable working in a patient-care environment.
– Able to follow instructions and established workplace procedures.
– Good communication and teamwork skills.
– Able to work professionally with nurses, patients and other healthcare staff.
ROTATING SHIFT REQUIREMENT
This position requires employees to commit to three rotating shifts.
Candidates should understand that healthcare facilities operate continuously and working hours may vary according to operational requirements and patient-care needs.
Applicants who are only available for fixed working hours may not be suitable for this position.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The position is based in the Kent Ridge MRT and Queenstown area of Singapore.
The successful candidate will work in a professional healthcare environment alongside nurses and other healthcare professionals. As the position involves direct patient support, candidates should be comfortable working with patients and following established healthcare procedures.

SALARY
The advertised salary range is $1,600–$3,100 per month.
